Design Element - Line

Design ideas can be found in all aspects of the world. Check out how aspects of these apparel items resemble lines found in ordinary objects. I hope you are enlightened! Just click on the pics to navigate to the source.

This wedding gown has lines that resemble the statue of Shiva. The illusion of a half circle created by the dress is similar to that surrounding the statue. Lines created by the position of the bodies are interesting.

The gathered lines on this top look like a sunburst. These same lines are found on the Rising Sun flag and daisies.

The mermaid wedding gown and these antique Indian candlesticks have very similar silhouettes. When the bride is dancing, the dress train will resemble the twisted lines at the bottom of the candlesticks.

Van Gogh's Starry Night is one of my favorite works of art. The lines on this dress remind me of the swirly clouds and wavy grass in the painting.

The actual lines in this dress are similar to the lines in an Asscher cut diamond, created in Holland. The illusion of lines in the diamond resemble those on the dress.

Harsh winds in the Sahara Desert form the sand into wavy lines, similar to the retro lines of this girls dress.

This chapel would complement a bride in this dress. The merging lines on the ceiling resemble her train.

The lines of movement on this dress look like black flowing water.

This black dress and glass vase have similar diagonal lines. The vase also creates the illusion of triangular lines, which are also found on the dress.

The roof of the Sydney Opera House reminds me of the Bustle Period. This modern wedding dress has similar lines and all the bump!
